Reflectance calibration of multimode optical fiber probes by probe-to-target distance reflectance profile modeling

چکیده

Reflectance acquired with a multimode optical fiber probe can be related to properties of an investigated turbid medium by utilizing light propagation model. During this step, calibration the model is required, as modeled reflectance normalized energy source fiber, while experimentally reflective standard. Since currently established methods based on liquid and solid phantoms suffer from drawbacks such low stability dependence other characterization methods, we propose new method for that modeling acquisition probe-to-target distance profiles first surface mirrors. We show spectrally resolved factors estimated repeatability 2% agree within 10% reference values obtained using aqueous suspensions polystyrene microspheres.

Single fiber reflectance spectroscopy calibration.

To accurately determine sample optical properties using single fiber reflectance spectroscopy (SFR), an absolute calibration of the reflectance is required. We investigated two SFR calibration methods, using a calibrated mirror and using the Fresnel reflection at the fiber tip as a reference. We compared these to commonly used calibration methods, using either Intralipid-20% in combination with...

Effects of fiber-optic probe design and probe-to-target distance on diffuse reflectance measurements of turbid media: an experimental and computational study at 337 nm.

Fiber-optic probes are widely used in optical spectroscopy of biological tissues and other turbid media. Only limited information exists, however, on the ways in which the illumination-collection geometry and the overall probe design influence the interrogation of media. We have investigated both experimentally and computationally the effect of probe-to-target distance (PTD) on the diffuse refl...

Calibration Status of the Aatsr Reflectance Channels

The radiometric gains of the AATSR visible to shortwave-infrared channels are calibrated using an on-board solar diffuser. The on-board calibration is supported by vicarious techniques such as comparisons over stable desert targets to establish relative biases in the radiometric calibrations of AATSR and other optical sensors and also to determine the long-term drifts. The authors present the r...

Reflectance-based calibration of SeaWiFS. II. Conversion to radiance.

For instruments that carry onboard solar diffusers to orbit, such as the Sea-Viewing Wide Field-of-View Sensor (SeaWiFS), it is possible to convert the instrument's reflectance measurements to radiance measurements by knowledge of the solar irradiance. This process, which generally requires the application of a solar irradiance model, is described. The application of the irradiance model is sep...

Estimating Nitrogen and Acid Detergent Fiber Contents of Grass Species using Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS)

Chemical assessments of forage clearly determine the forage quality; however, traditional methods of analysis are somehow time consuming, costly, and technically demanding. Near Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy (NIRS) has been reported as a method for evaluating chemical composition of agriculture products, food, and forage and has several advantages over chemical analyses such as conducting c...
